Territorial tax system
0% on income earned outside Paraguay — salary, business, dividends, crypto. Domestic income is capped at 8–10%. No wealth tax. No inheritance tax on foreign assets.

Residency without deposit
Since the 2022 reform the US$ 5,000 bank-deposit requirement is gone. A self-declaration of solvency is enough. Standard residency processes in 2–6 months for around US$ 700 all-in.

Single person in Asunción runs around US$ 900–1,100/month for rent, groceries, and utilities. You can keep residency without living here; the rule is no absence longer than 365 consecutive days.

Permanent residency lasts 10 years and renews. Citizenship is available after 3 years of permanent residency. MERCOSUR citizens (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia) get a reduced fee.

How fast can I get Paraguay residency?
Standard residency: 2–6 months. With a complete document set and no errors, 2–4 months. Through the MigraMóvil mobile sessions, residency and ID can issue in under 5 days. Investor Pass delivers permanent residency in 10–15 working days.
Do I need to live in Paraguay to keep my residency?
No. Paraguay has no physical-presence rule for residency. The only condition is you must not be absent for more than 365 consecutive days.
Is foreign income really 0% taxed?
Yes. Paraguay's tax system is territorial — only income earned inside Paraguay is taxed (8–10% max). Salary from foreign employers, online business, dividends, and crypto are not taxed by Paraguay.
What documents do I need?
Passport, birth certificate, criminal record check (last 3 years), medical certificate, and Interpol clearance. All foreign documents must be apostilled and translated into Spanish.
Can I include my family?
Yes. Spouse and minor children can be included in the same application. Adult children can apply on their own and be sponsored later.
When can I become a citizen?
After 3 years of permanent residency. Naturalization requires basic Spanish, demonstration of ties to Paraguay, and presence at the swearing-in.
